At George Yard, we are proud to honour our armed forces. We did so this year with an unforgettable tribute on Friday, 8th November. Shoppers were treated to the rare opportunity to see an iconic Spitfire plane up close, while discovering fascinating facts about its remarkable history.
Adding to the occasion, the Bocking Concert Band delivered a stirring live performance, captivating the crowd with their music. Meanwhile, the Local Legion Poppy Appeal was on hand, raising vital funds for this deeply meaningful cause.
The commemorations continued with two poignant two-minute silences observed on Sunday, 10th and Monday, 11th November. On Monday, the moving sounds of the bagpipes, played by Andrew MacGregor, marked the moment of reflection.
Dan Foley, our Centre Manager at George Yard, expressed his gratitude, saying:
“It’s truly inspiring to see the community and our retailers come together to honour the extraordinary sacrifices made by our armed forces. Events like these remind us of the importance of remembering and supporting those who have served to protect our freedoms.”
George Yard Shopping Centre would like to thank all who participated and supported these events, reinforcing the significance of Remembrance and the vital work of the Local Legion Poppy Appeal.
