Christmas
Season Events 2008
From now til Christmas we have a range of events on, download
the PDF to have a read.
Welcome
Welcome to our “new-look” web-site – we hope
that you find it easy to use and informative – please send
your comments by way of our Enquiry
Form or even by phone! And don’t forget that you can
have a chance in the prize draw if you let us send you an events
listing each month – we promise we will not be sending loads
of messages!
We’re
great!
With 33 names - both High Street names and local independent retailers
- we are a great shopping centre. It’s lovely - pleasant
tree shaded seating areas with open air coffee shops, flower baskets
and holders as well as a choice of restaurants (never mind the
very convenient shopping!) The Centre prides itself on being an
attractive, clean and safe place for visitors in this traditional
market town.
Park easy!
With easy carparking, buses and taxis on the door step – and
we’re very easy to walk to from anywhere in town! And there
are bike racks, too!
Anything
else going on?
There certainly is – loads of events held under the
Bandstand provide a welcome distraction for shoppers, offering
something for all ages and interests - see Events for
an up to date listing.
The
wide choice of shops offer a great range from luxury, fun
and fashion items to more everyday products to while away
a little time!
Not
completely able to move around?
We have a completely flat site and free disabled parking in the
George Yard multi–storey car park as well as other places
around the town. Mobility scooters and wheelchairs from Braintree
Shopmobility are available by pre-booking with the Tourist
Information Centre.
The scooters are picked up direct
from George Yard Shopping Centre with direct transfers within
the car-park, helped by Centre Staff.

A bit of history
Designed to fit into the conservation area, the Centres’ variety of bricks,
shiplap and canopies - known as “Essex vernacular” - makes an appealing
place in which to shop and enjoy the tree lined outside space. The buildings
at the Bank Street entrance are grade II listed (including the original Crittalls
factory) and you are welcome to a free Historic Tour leaflet (available from
the Management Suite).
